About me

My name is Nathan Gaskin I am a 21 year old student. I am reading Criminology at Middlesex University Hendon campus. In the student off season (otherwise known as summer) I live in Surrey with my Father. In my first off season I am attempting to grasp the intricacies of the small business world from the perspective of Dad’s company Team Discovery. I have one other ‘consistent’ role as a Special Constable operating in Camden.

I aim to understand and research further the serpentine features of the corporate world known in Criminology as ‘White Collar Crime’. I hope to contribute to literature in this area for the development of empirical understanding. I have enjoyed thoroughly my first year of reading Criminology and I hope to write to the ‘British Journal of Criminology’ standard by the time I finish my Bachelor’s.

This off-season has been a truly fascinating insight into the inner workings of the small business community. I have developed a lens that has taught me some truly valuable life skills. I plan to develop my business acumen in the future.

My role as a Special Constable is a true eye-opener to all areas of ‘closed door’ life. I have the opportunity to see various different issues in society. It is a gruelling role that leaves me exhausted mentally and physically. However, the experiences I am able to gain from this role always bring me down to earth preventing my Criminological theories from becoming idealistic.

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” said Alice.
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to” said the Cat.
“I don’t much care where-” said Alice.
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.
“-so long as I get somewhere,” Alice added as an explanation.
“Oh, you’re sure to do that,” said the Cat, “if you only walk long enough.”
